My call to candidacy is of a higher calling, a call to serve God and country. Like most Americans I just couldn’t continue to sit on the sidelines and let the Washington "Status Quo" continue to ruin this nation. Corruption, party politics and irresponsible spending are escalating out of control.

What we once knew as the American Dream, is now fading. I am living the American Dream, the one I knew as a kid. I own my own business, I have a happy family, and I look forward to children and sharing their dreams.

Yet, if I look five years ahead, and consider the direction of this nation, the dreams I once had are gone; for my business, for my family, for my children. What I see ahead, is not a place I want to live.

I don't feel like I have a choice. Like me, I think Americans are ready to send someone to Washington who is willing to represent the people and work to restore this nation to its original glory; to faith, integrity and unity.

My wife and I know the cost of this campaign. I think anyone who considers setting their life aside for something like this can expect to pay a high price.

However, we believe the price of doing nothing is far higher.

The attacks are going to be significant, especially considering the strength of our faith, and that I'm a Washington outsider. We know the media won't take our campaign serious, until we raise several million dollars. Yet, we're prepared to endure it. We're prepared to push through it.

We've come to realize our dreams...for our businesses, for our family, for just about everything we look forward to...are in jeopardy. And as my niece would say..."That's not cool!"

We didn’t make this decision hastily. I’ve been considering entry into this race for more than a year. In the course of this deliberation and the research involved, I've identified what I believe are the roots of the problems in Washington. I’ve put together a platform of issues, and what I’m calling a five star plan for reform.

Despite the odds, we believe we can win this election.

We know we’re currently heavily out-funded by Senator Vitter and Representative Melancon. The Senator has more than 4.5 million dollars in his war chest. Representative Melancon has raised nearly two million dollars.

We don't believe money is the key to winning this campaign. Yes, it's necessary. Instead, the defiance and support of Americans who are ready to take back their country will determine this race. They will fund this race!

More than votes and morale support, we believe the American people are going to be our greatest source of financial support. We've committed this campaign to the American people, and we will not prostitute ourselves to either Republican or Democratic parties, nor special interests.

I believe Americans have come to realize; if we want a candidate that’s going to represent Americans, we must find a way to fund his or her campaign. And that means reaching into our own pockets.

Personally, I have already contributed more money to this campaign than my opponents have to their own.

Combined, Representative Melancon and Senator Vitter have raised more than $6,000,000. They have each contributed $0 to their own campaigns, according to FEC reports.

By the power and grace of God, and the resolve of the American Spirit, we are in this race to win it, and by doing so to begin the restoration of this great nation.

Because we can, and we’re willing, my wife and I are going to do what most Americans would like to do right now, and that’s stand up and take our country back, starting with Louisiana's U.S. Senate seat.

Some will say, one candidate won't make a difference. I say it will. Once elected, I intend to set out with the American people, in every election to follow, to campaign for Independents and conservatives, upright men and women of Godly character. We will fill enough seats in both the U.S. House and Senate, to extinguish party dominance, to restore balance and unity to Washington, and to return power to the people.
